Cenerentola is the first European version of Cinderella to be published.  Author Giambattista Basile set the story in Naples, Italy.  Cenerentola’s name is a derivative of the Neapolitan word for ash or cinder.  In his story, the young girl is gifted a golden spade, a golden bucket,  a silk napkin, and a date seedling by her father.  With the gifts, she cultivates a tree.  When the king hosts a grand ball, a fairy that lives in the tree dresses her for the event. 

Cenerentola is constructed of recycled wool, dressed in cotton, and stuffed with recycled denim. She stands approximately 12” tall.
