In the Chinese version of the Cinderella story, Ye Xian is orphaned and left in the care of her stepmother. She befriends a fish who is the reincarnation of her mother. The fish helps dress her for a local festival, complete with a pair of golden shoes. When her stepfamily recognizes her, she flees and loses one of her shoes. Later, the king of a sea island finds the shoe. He searches the land to find Ye. When the shoe fits, he takes her back to his kingdom.

Ye Xian is constructed of recycled wool/cashemere. She wears a silk handkerchief with a delicate fish print and cashmere pants. She stands approximately 10” tall.
