Hussam
“Gaza’s Newton” is fifteen year old Hussam Al-Attar. He has a reputation in his family for being a mischievous scavenger of broken things, and has always enjoyed experimenting with electricity and invention. When his family was displaced to a tent in Rafah, he was struck by how dark it was at night. He wanted to alleviate some of the stress for his parents and younger siblings. Using broken fan blades, scrap wire, discarded wood and switches, batteries and light bulbs, he rigged up an overhead light using wind energy.
This little fox stands at 10” tall. He is constructed and dressed in recycled wool and stuffed with recycled denim.
